Have you ever read a post or website and thought “this could’ve been written by anyone?”
With the rise of AI, this is becoming more and more common. Content is being generated faster than ever, and as a result, a lot of it sounds the same. Generic. Forgettable. Like it could belong to any business in any industry.
And that’s why standing out from your competitors has never been more important.
But here’s the thing: standing out doesn’t mean you need to become something or someone else. It doesn’t even mean rebranding or adding a new offer. It just means getting clear on what’s already there and learning how to use it to connect with the people you want to work with.
Your story is already your competitive advantage.
You just need to know how to use it.
Here are three questions to help you get there:
1. What do you believe about your industry that differs from your competitors?
Think about what frustrates you about how others in your field operate. What do you do differently and why? Your opinions and beliefs are uniquely yours. No AI can replicate them. And when you lead with your own story, the right people immediately recognise that you share the same values and they become attracted to you.
2. What is different about your process because of this belief?
Your beliefs should show up in how you work. What do you do that others don’t? How does your approach actually differ in practice? This is where your methodology becomes your differentiator. It’s not just what you do, but how and why you do it.
3. Are you currently communicating this difference to your clients?
This is the most important question. Because it doesn’t matter how different you are if no one knows about it. Look at your website, your LinkedIn, your content. Is your unique belief and approach obvious? Or does it blend into the background like everyone else?
When you can answer these three questions clearly, you have the foundation of a message that stands out. A story that resonates. A system that consistently attracts the right clients — without sounding like everyone else?
That’s what turning your story into a system that sells actually looks like.
